The research community is ready to move beyond assessments skewed towards publications, says Simon Hettrick
We could not have planned it, but it felt entirely appropriate that the Festival of Hidden REF, held in Birmingham this month (and pictured above), took place while the conventional REF is pausing for contemplation. As different factions argue over the REF’s direction, we got busy showcasing the huge range of people and outputs without which there would, literally, be no research.
